Fasting for The Work of God Day 6

Read

2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

Acts 13:2-3

37 Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. 38 Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”

Matthew 9:37-38

Reflect

  • For those of you who choose to join your church family at Hillside for this time of corporate fasting, what do you sense that God is asking you to “fast from in order to feast upon?”

Reflection After Fasting

  • During your fast, when you were hungry, what areas in your life did the Lord reveal to you that your hunger for the things of God should replace your hunger for the things of this world?
  • How did feasting on scripture instead of food, technology, or entertainment impact your day and your spirit?

Pray

  • Pray throughout your day of fasting when you are hungry. Let your hunger remind you that “man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God (Matthew 4:4).” May the Lord lead us to read Scripture and to pray when we are hungry during this fast.
  • Also, when you are hungry for food or start desiring to engage with social media or entertainment, fast from these things in order to pray for the names on your “Don’t Discount Your Story” prayer card.
